WHO DOES THE BIBLE SAY JESUS IS?

Matthew 16:13-17
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the
Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter
answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied,
“Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by
flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

John 1:1-14
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word
was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were
made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life,
and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it. There was a man sent from God whose
name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that
through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a
witness to the light.

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He
was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world
did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own
did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed
in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born
not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born
of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have
seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father,
full of grace and truth.

Was Jesus just a good man? Was he a teacher? Or was he the promised
Messiah sent by God the Father? Does it matter that he lived? Does it
matter what he taught? Jesus claimed this, about himself...

John 14:5-11
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to
the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father
as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” Philip said, “Lord,
show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t
you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time?
Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us
the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is
in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is
the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that
I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence
of the works themselves.
